SERGEY GEORGYEVICH GORSHKOV

L’Ammiraglio Sergey Georgyevich Gorshkov nominato il 5 gennaio 1956 al vertice della Voyenno-morskoy flot SSSR (VMF), (la Marina Militare dell’Unione Sovietica), nel corso del suo incarico durato quasi un ventennio, sino all’8 dicembre 1985, riuscì a ridisegnare per il suo paese una grande flotta navale contrapponendosi in maniera efficace all’US Navy, permettendo, di fatto, di far gestire al meglio la politica estera al suo paese.
Nel 1990 al termine di questo vertiginoso sviluppo navale, la VMF contava 63 sottomarini balistici, 72 sottomarini armati con missili da crociera, 64 sottomarini d’attacco, 65 sottomarini d’attacco a propulsione diesel-elettrica, 4 incrociatori portaeromobili, 2 incrociatori portaelicotteri, 4 incrociatori a propulsione nucleare, 26 incrociatori a propulsione convenzionale, 52 cacciatorpediniere, 33 fregate, 200 corvette, 35 unità da trasporto e sbarco anfibio, 425 tra motomissilistiche e unità da pattugliamento.
L’ammiraglio Sergey Georgiyevich Gorshkov morì a Mosca il 13 maggio 1978, all’età di 78 anni.

Admiral Sergey Georgiyevich Gorshkov. On January 5h 1956 he was designated at the top of Soviet Union Navy (Voyenno-morskoy flot SSSR - VMF). During his term, last almost twenty years up to December 8th 1985, he was able to set up for his country a powerful naval fleet clashing effectively to US Navy allowing, all things considering, to run the foreign policy of his country to the best way.
In 1990 at the end of this very quick naval development, VMF had 63 ballistic submarines, 72 submarines with cruise missiles, 64 attack submarines, 65 attack conventional propulsion submarines, 4 aircraft carrier cruisers, 2 helicopter carrier cruisers, 4 nuclear propulsion cruisers, 26 conventional propulsion cruisers, 52 destroyers, 33 frigates, 200 corvettes, 35 cargo and amphibious boats, 425 missile and patrol boats.
Admiral Sergey Georgiyevich Gorshkov died in Moscow on May 13th 1978 at the age of 78 years.
